Chicken Rice

The Chicken. 
Stuffed the chicken with 1 inch of sliced ginger, 5 cloves of garlic, 2 stalk of limegrass, 5 nos of red dates, 1-2 nos of chicken stock, 1 inch of salted radish. Boiled it in a boiling bowl until its done.

Put the chicken aside. Do not throw the boiling water.

The rice. 
Melt the 1 tablespoon of butter. Add in minced garlic and onions, 1 tablespoon of crushed limegrass, 1/2 inch of ginger, 1 stalk of cinnamon, 1/2 tablespoon of tumeric powder, 3 flower of cloves, and 3 nos of star anise. Mix well until aroma arise. Add in the washed rice and mix well.

When all the ingredient has mixed well with the rice, add in the chicken broth. Cook until its done.

The ketchup. 
Add in  chicken stock, oyster sauce, soy sauce, a pinch of sugar, a pinch of salt. Mix well and its done.

The red sauce. 
Chili paste, minced onion and garlic, pinch of salt to taste. Mixed well and its done.

Serving.
Cut the chicken into your preferable sizes. Put it in a plate and garnish with sliced cucumber and tomato. If you want the soup, you can have it too from the chicken broth that we made earlier.

Cook well and serve well.. have a good day ahead..

Cheese Cake

Ingredients:
3 large egg
120g cream cheese
120g white chocolate

Separate the egg white and the egg yolk.
Put the white egg in the refrigerator until you are ready to use them.
Melt the white chocolate on the double boiler with hot water.
After the white chocolate melted, add in the cream cheese and mix well.
Whisk the egg white until thick foam form.
Add to the mixture in 3 batches.

When its done, add the mixture to the pan.
Add in hot water to the large pan before adding the mixture into the oven.

Bake at 170F for 15-30minutes.

Now, its done. Refrigerate for about 8 hours before serving.

Meatball Recipe

Preheat oven 400F.

Mix together in a bowl with hands:
1 Large Egg
1/2 cup reduced fat milk
1/4 cup sweet onion, finely diced
1 teaspoon salt
1 lb lean ground turkey meat
1/2 cup tortila chips (crushed in food processor) until fine powder form

Mix all the above and roll into 1 to 1/2 in balls.
Place on baking sheet lined with foil and sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Bake 13 - 15 minutes until thoroughly cooked and lightly browned.

Sauce
In a skillet add:
1/2 tablespoon light butter or margarine
4 cloves of garlic, minced
Stir and cook for 1 minute together on medium heat.

On low heat, add and stir together:
1/2 ketchup
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoon Little Soya gluten free soy sauce
Pepper
2 tablespoon apple cider
Simmer for less than 5 minutes on low heat.

Add meatballs to the sauce, roll around and stir gently to lightly coat.
Serve with spaghetti or anything you may like.
Enjoy.

I am on diet

What is the best thing to eat when you are on diet? Please refer below for details:

1) Eat fast food once a week
2) Drink your favourite soda one can per day
3) Pizza Night (more tomato sauce, vegetables but not meat on top)

You know what I did? I took cereal with low-fat milk for lunch and seaweed drinks for breakfast and dinner. That would really do the job of pushing the fats away. The above trick will still maintain the fats in you, I bet.

Housing Development in Sarawak

Well, this topic might not sound appropriate for my below explanations, but I hope it will open our eyes to see from a different angle for this thing (necessity).

Do you notice how cheap is that compare to the house that you can find all over Sarawak? Please let me know if you can find the same price as above with same specification? What makes we all different? I bet, those people in Sarawak earn lower than those in Peninsula, right? Do you think we still live in the jungle where we has spent a lot of money for a house?

Who says that 20 cents price hike won't effect anything towards us? Open your mind. Help your own people. Don't destroy our own people.

We are all coming from the same background. You even went to the same school my dad used to attend. So, why spit on us? This is just temporary. Living in this world is not eternal.

So, be wise..

Price Hike

Its been awhile since my last date of writing in this media type of communication. The world is changing, so do the people.

If the government keep on upgrading the price of the necessities for other more meaningful needs (e.g luxury travel, diamond in her finger, cosmetic blablablabla..)

Even food price also increases. Only a few might notice this.

Just take a deep breath and hopefully things will be better soon. Someone must do something.

Semenjak itu, Tanah Melayu berusaha menaikkan taraf hidup rakyatnya. Seperti yang kita lihat sekarang, Tanah Melayu sudah hampir mencapai status negara maju. Dengan pengangkutan moden, cara hidup yang lebih sofistikated, rumah yang besar dan selesa, makan minum yang sedap dan berkhasiat, sesungguhnya adalah sesuatu yang amat membanggakan. Amat susah menyatakan ini lebih-lebih lagi kita tidak bersua muka dengan pemimpin. Tapi jauh di sudut hati, semua orang tahu pemimpin kita memperoleh kemerdekaan daripada kemerdekaan itu sendiri. Take note that we live in this world for a temporally state only. Don't force yourself to be somebody you are not.

Cooking = a must thing to do as a wife?

Well, everyone does cooking.. No matter how good you are, it is not a problem at all. As long as you know that certain time is your time to cook for the family.

Some people thought that eating outside is easier. But a man wants the wife to cook for him. That will make him love to come back home after a very busy day at his office. No matter how lousy your cooking might be, as long as it is done by you, your husband will surely love it. He will eat his meal until he is full enough to say, babe, I m done. And he would request for a cup of milo or tea before going to bed.

It is just a matter of responsibility. Do it right and he will surely be next to you till death do you two apart.

I notice there is many people throwing their love away. This could be one of the problem. You don't play your role as a partner. In Jesus book, it says that we shouldn't put any grudge towards anything that your partner did to you. You should pray that his heart will belong to Jesus and he will doing the right thing sooner or later. Its the chances that Jesus gave to everyone us that we live today in this world.

Some people thought that grand wedding is the best of them all. No, it is not the stop centre of the relationship. It is the new beginning of life where the two person must learn to know and love each other better. Accept each other weakness, the ugly part and the rest of the family members. Marrying one person means that you are marrying the big family of him/her. Accompany her during her hard time, happy time and even labor time.

There is a lot of things to be achieve in life. Make yourselves valuable. Gain more knowledge and take each day as a remembrance to Jesus.

Family Matter

Long time ago, when I was a kid, I used to be a very obedient and kind big sister. I never allow my little sister or little brother to be bullied by other people. We might be coming from not-so-rich family, but we lived a good life. We never really feel the hunger, we went out and having fun a lot too.

But some people they might having a different sort of life. Good day ya..

Vegetarian Food

Out with friends for vegetarian food?? I m not a food addict. I have a mission (not to eat for a while and having my fitness cereal only) Wasn't that cool? huahauhau

There is plenty of food available at this centre. They even have the seaweed fried rice if you wish to try. You can try the vege chicken that they cook here. It taste awesome.

You may also want to buy it at the supermarket where you can find a variety pack food especially for the vegetarian..

Sensitive Person

We all having friends, don't we? Wouldn't it be very awkward if there is nobody that you can share your happiness and sorrow with? That is what friends are for. Sometimes, by looking at your friend(s) face will make you happy. Doesn't necessarily to have a very long chat. Just saying hi will be enough to make you feel better.

Work work work

In one organization, there is always somebody on top. She/He had a big payment and bonus. She/He handle a large scale of marketing strategies, financial structure and as well as staff welfare. Not every boss can do it all correctly though they always mentioned that sometimes it could be you who correct me when I do something wrong and sometimes its very hard to explain this situation.

A boss cannot miss-look on something especially when it comes to paperwork, documentation or money basis. She/He must do it correctly.

OMG..I don't know what else should I say. I m going to continue writing about this soon.

Cake Recipe

I overheard on this thought saying that some people is very stingy when it comes to delicious food recipe. I wonder why this could happen. Is it good to keep delicious recipe to yourselves?

Kek Hati Pari (Kek Hati Parek)

Visit my colleague house for hari raya 2013 and remember that last year I was eating the same cake as well. This year mission is to steam this cake at my own baking centre a.k.a my house. Huhu hope that I will remember to buy all of this ingredients.

Loyang 9 inci
10 biji telur (4 biji putih telurnya dibuang)
16oz mentega (mentega Golden Churn)
9 gelas tepung gandum + 3 sudu teh soda bikarbonat (diayak bersama): 1 gelas tepung=125g
8 sudu besar gula hitam / browning sugar
1 kati / 600gm kismis hitam
1/2 tin susu pekat manis
6 gelas gula halus (ble kurangkan kepada 4 gelas jika tak suka manis sgt)

Cara-cara
1) Hiris halus kismis atau ditumbuk
2) Kemudian ambil segelas tepung gandum dan gaulkan bersama kismis itu. Asingkan.
3) Di dalam mangkuk adunan, putar mentega dan susu sehingga putih.
4) Di dalam mangkuk adunan lain, pukul telur bersama gula sehingga kembang dan berkrim.
5) Satukan kedua adunan dan putar lagi sehingga sebati.
6) Kemudian masukkan tepung (8 gelas ke dalam adunan tadi) dan gaul sebati.
7) Kemudian masukkan gula hitam dan gaul hingga sebati.
8) Akhir sekali masukkan adunan kismis dan tepung dan gaul sehingga sebati.
9) Sediakan pengukus. Gliskan loyang dengan mentega/marjerin dan taburkan sedikit tepung. Kemudian tuangkan adunan tadi ke dalamnya dan tutup kemas dengan kertas foil.
10) Kukuslah kek ini selama 8 jam. Lapkan air pada penutupnya (sebaiknya tutup dengan kain atau tuala) tambahkan air (air panas/air suam) jika berkurangan.
11) Supaya kek tahan lama, selepas dikukus boleh lah dibakar sekejap selama 10-15minit dalam suhu 170'c. Sejukkan kek sebelum dipotong.

It looks easy and simple. I would love to try this cake out. You may do so too...Enjoy ur day ahead.

p/s: Will get my colleague to tell me the details of baking this cake to ensure that I won't end up in failure..

Why Marriage is in a State of Conflict?

What is the two main factor of building a good foundation of an effective relationship? 1 Corinthians 1:10 gives the answer. " I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement"

That's two people whose hearts beat together, their minds work together, their plans are the same, and so do their objectives. That's cooperation, and that's how marriage should work. But in our everyday lives and the normal relationship that we are having tend to be competitive, not cooperative. One partner has an idea on how things should be done, and the other has their own idea on how it should go. Sounds familiar to you?

This condition illustrate accordingly in Isaiah 53:6 as selfishness. The actual verse stated "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way"

We can't build an effective relationship until you come to grips with this tendency of selfishness. It often happens whenever a decisions has to be made between you and your partner. We don't even have to work on it. It just happens literally.

When we try to taking it over, thinking that there is just needs to be more understanding, probably won't work things out. It can solidify your partner's viewpoint, because the more you understand their viewpoint, the less you appreciate it. Maybe you have tried to talk about it to your friends which probably won't work either, for the same reason that just you and your partner talking it over didn't work.

To get the right decision, and none work, you have to face the fact that you've hit a stalemate. You also have to face the fact that somebody has to have the last word and be the leader, or the problem won't be solve. That's a tough conclusion to make, because even though you've tried ways to solve dilemma, nothing has really changed. Why? Because you each still want your own way. You are competing each other. What do you thing that introduce the competition you still find yourselves involved in? It's that selfish attitude that is still in control. Selfishness is the great hindrance to cooperation.

But you do not need to be stuck there, in that spirit of selfishness. You just need a Savior. You need to surrender your competitive nature to God and let Him give you an attitude of cooperation. Read the above mentioned verse and you shall find relief in yourself.

Everyone wanted to have their marriage works. Then make the choice to invite Christ into your life and into your relationship. Ask Him to fill you with a spirit of cooperation and choose daily to approach your marriage in a cooperative way.

Try this " Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life to you and ask you to come in as my Savior and Lord. Take control of my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. "

Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? You know what to do next. Once we have invited Christ in our life, thank God often that He is in our life, that He will never leave you and that you have eternal life. As you learn more about relationship with God, and how much He loves you, you'll experience life to the fullest.

Marriage Life Needs

Read an article earlier and learn that a-so-called successful marriage is because of these 3 key elements.

1) Communication
2) Respect
3) Trust

A good communication requires practice, goodwill, determination and a considerable amount of inborn talent. The second is respect, which in many ways is more important than love. Love comes and goes, but respect endures, and provides the space for love to flow after the ebb, which is bound to come in all long marriages sooner or later.

The third is trust. And this is the hardest of all, because if you have ever been let down – and we all have – reconstructing the trust is difficult. This isn't about infidelity, but many small matters – broken promises, bad intentions, frustrated hopes.

You have to trust, even though you have no guarantee you won't be let down, and then, if you are let down, trust again, and then again. You must keep doing this as long as you are humanly able to, and your marriage will either stand or fall on it. This requires what I call the power of "forgettory" as opposed to memory. You need to forget and forget again about any perceived hurts and mistreatment. Dragging the weight of the past behind you will drag you down in the end.

But you will never, can never, "get there", because there is nowhere to get to. A marriage is a moving process, a living thing, and if it stops being fed with these existential nutrients, it will finally expire. Complacency and laziness is what kills marriage, far more than lack of love, and that is why it is often described as hard work. But no work is ultimately more rewarding.

Chocolate Cake Recipe..

Prepare the "loyang"
Use the cake spray and put in the wax paper in the bottom.

Ingredients A
3/4 cup of Hershey's cocoa powder
2 cup sugar
3/4 cup of all purpose flour
1 1/2 tbs baking powder
1 tbsp salt
*whisk all this ingredient together and then sieve it to avoid lump

Ingredients B
1 cup of milk
1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 large egg
*Combine all of this ingredient but do not mix it yeyt

You may now mix the ingredient B to the A. Whisk it all until it gets even. Lastly, put in 1 cup of boiling water (slowly). When it is done, put it in the oven at 350degree for about 30-35 minutes. Voilla...Wait to cool and now you can do the topping.

Use 1 cup of butter. Mix it around until it gets fluffy. Add in the melted chocolate and sugar up to your liking. After that, you may now pour it onto the cake and well, now it is done. Ready to be eaten. Have a wonderful day ahead, ladies...

How to capture the moment? (Photography)

Reader Question: I’ve heard photographers talk about capturing the moment. What does that mean?

My Answer: Almost every good shot captures a unique moment in time.
Sometimes the moment happens right away, and sometimes you have to wait a while. It can be as simple as a woman glancing up or as complex as having many disparate elements align within a perfect composed frame.

How do you make an interesting picture that includes a moment?
First you need to find an engaging scene or background for your picture. Then you need to wait for someone — or something — to move into the composition you have created.

Great photographers spend a lot of time looking through the camera waiting for just the right extra element to appear. It can make all the difference in the world.

I first had the idea for making the photo you see above when I was riding a ski lift at Snowmass in Aspen, Colorado and saw these perfectly shaped pine trees placed just so on the slope.

When I got off the lift, I rode my snowboard down to the spot I thought would give me the most picturesque scene, then waited for a snowboarder to weave between the trees.

I managed to capture the boarder as he was making his turn, putting a little tension in his body language. It’s this minor change in the scene that gives the shot that little extra something.

In conclusion, the last thing that a person can do is to pray and wait for miracle to happens. There is no use of spending  a lot of money to buy the so-called-good-supplement to eat but in the end, she found out that none of the supplement works.

Candy Crush 2

I played candy crush level 253 (if I didn't get it wrong)..I played it with the score of 300,000 over..Actually, I don't know how to make it stop but I gave myself a limit to hit 300,000 and then  I let it off. What a very happy moment. But I know soon after that won't be an easy level. And, today I am stuck at 254. But at least, I am feeling very happy while playing 253. So, dear all candy crush fan, don't give up. :)

Hobby: Cooking

I love to cook. I don't cook for myself but I love to cook for others. I will feel very happy to know that there is people that love my food. I will try my best to find a time for me to cook for them. Due to the fact that I am a working person, I can't really cook for a lot of people on working days. Normally, I will cook extra during my off day and share it with my friends.

Sometimes, my little sister Chloe will request some food and I will try my best to fullfill her wants. It just a matter of time that sometimes I can't do the cooking. 

Sejauh manakah????

Still remember this phrase? When I was in high school, my History teacher always ask me this question. "Sejauh manakah pemerintahan kerajaan Melaka ini boleh membangunkan negeri dan penduduk setempat?"
One of my friend simply answer it this way "Tidak berapa jauh. Saya masih melihat dalam jarak yang tidak berapa jauh itu"..The answer really killing me though. LOL..

Gate Entrance (Parking)

I have a very small house. Actually, I can park 5 car in the car porch. But I only have 1 entrance gate which makes it only 1 car to fit in. Outside my gate, there is an area where I normally park my other 2 cars. When the neighbor friends come over, they normally took my 2 parking space and my housing area was too small for a big function. No parking area. And its annoying to tell people if its time for you to go out and there is people double park you car. You know what I do? I won't go out because I don't have time to insult people. Hheeheh what a beautiful thought I have. :)

In the Memory of a Loving Friend

Couldn't believe the news that I receive from my friend. He announced that one of our friend has been called to be with God on Saturday morning, 08:00am on 13.07.2013. He will be missed as he is the most funny and awesome guy that we all ever known and without him, the world would be a different place to live in.

Knowing that he is died at the age of 28, I always thought that God maybe wanna take my life too. It just a matter of time. A friend of mine said that he had a brain cancer. He never really disclose his problem to any of his friend. Not many had known that he sell nasik lemak for extra money before.

I remember my first day in college. He is among the first guy that introduced himself to me. He is also among 1 of my first friend and group mate in college. His dead really bring me to the thought that anytime, anyhow God may take your life.

That is why I urge myself to live my life to the fullest. We won't know when He will take us, all we need is just to be prepared.

Sambal Kerang

Was thinking to have this menu for my dinner today. Have to check whtr I have all the ingredients.

1) Clam
2) Limegrass
3) A pinch of belacan
4) Assam Jawa
5) Salt to taste
6) Onions

That should be all. Firstly, you will have to boil the clam. Then, peel the shell and take the meat out. Fried all the ingredients (pounded) and the clam. Wait for about 10 minutes and voilla..Lets enjoy the fried clam in happy mode..

It is very not hard to do the cooking. Just let go the laziness in you. Ok?

Trouble is The Friend Of Mine

Do you know the song title above? Don't you think that it is true?

I am always in trouble that I could not find my way out sometimes. I always don't know why is that happening to me.

Why I always in trouble? Why can't I be like those who is never be in trouble or at least though there is trouble ahead of me, can I be told earlier and so that I will try my best to go for other option that will make me out from these total trouble?

This can't be happening to me.

Kenyah 1

What we do during spare time? Many people might thought we are like nobody else. We lived in the trees, we don't have proper house and we are not even socialize with the outside world yet. Thanks for saying so. We are very happy the way we are anyway. Nobody care about us when somebody wanted to buy our ancestors land for their self benefits. We are the one who found this land and by the time we are so called one nation, we don't even enjoy any single of development. We starve all day if we do not plant our own food. We do not have any electricity. We cannot be reach by land easily. That cause our food and groceries become very expensive from day to day. What is life all about anyway? To feel the pain? To suffer in this no-mercy world? Even the grave spot is no longer available now. Do everyone of us thinking that we will lived forever? Or should everyone be cremated instead of buried 6-feet under?

Entertainment

You might notice there are a number of food available in Malaysia. So do the fashion design and many others. I am not very sure what am I trying to say but I wish that I could explain in an easy words for easy understanding.

We may choose to watch movie together, picnic, swimming, jogging, shopping and many more to spend the quality time with our beloved family and friends. It is not necessary to pick weekend to do all of this things. After office hours, we can choose to drive home immediately before heading to the family meeting point.

Quality time with the family will ensure that we are able to monitor our kids development in terms of entertainment and stuff like that. Though we being tied up with the job in the office, but still we need to allocate some time to spend with our beloved ones.

Traffic Jam in Miri

Been talking about this before. Its hard to stop this topic because I have to drive on daily basis. I am driving from Miri By-Pass road and I will reach to the Terminal Pujut junction before heading towards the Boulevard Roundabout and to the Pujut-Lutong Road. There is only 2 lanes towards Boulevard Roundabout make it very hard to move. The first slow move is at the Terminal Pujut. I really don't know how to tell you on the direction wise, but I bet if you are Mirian, you would also face the same thing. We, Mirian wish for a better road of course. I weren't sure if there is any of us Mirian that do not like development. Always confuse with these situation.

Fasting Day 1: Ayam Rendang

Chloe has a new addiction now. She really like to eat the Chicken Rendang. Was thinking to cook this menu tonight. Here are the recipe:

1) Rendang Ayam Paste (up to your liking)
2) Santan
3) Water
4) Salt to taste

Fried the chicken first. After a few minutes, add in the paste and coconut milk. Add in water, and wait till boil or until the soup has thicken up. Add in salt to taste. Voilla...Its done..

Durian Crepe Recipe - I am in love with durian, dulu kini dan selamanya

This is super yummy..I bought it from my fren @ RM25.00nett for 6  pieces of that square box size. I think that most people who can make a tasty durian crepe may have become a millionaire by selling it that expensive.. Wow..I tried below recipe before but my crepe turn out to be very hard and not glossy. Should try it again later.

So, to those who wanted to try, you my refer to below menu. Its super yummy!

Durian Crepe Recipe (taken from khairulabdullah.com)

Ingredients

4 ulas  large size durian – remove the seeds

230gm flour

1 tablespoon tapioca flour

1 tablespoon cornflour

250ml coconut milk + 250ml water to be mixed together or replaced with 300ml fresh milk + 200ml water

1/2 teaspoon of salt – add to the coconut milk

1 tablespoon of butter – melt it.

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon of vanilla

Yellow colouring.

300gm whipping cream + 120gm of sugar (or ready made whipped cream in a canister)

The Preparation

For the fillings

1. Remove the durian’s seed then mashed it together. Put aside

2. Whipped the cream until smooth and soft peak. (Add sugar is you like it sweet) then put aside #Tips – cream need to be cold and the room temperature also need to be cold if possible..to easily achieved the soft peak.

For the crepes

1. Prepare a blender – add all flour, coconut milk or milk with water and eggs. Blend till smooth and add melted butter and blend again.

2. Heat a small non-stick pan and DO NOT add any oil, butter etc. 

3. Low down the heat to half and add a small scoop of the batter in the pan and sway and roll it till its covers the whole pan.

4. Let its cook for about 40-50 seconds. Shovel it up onto a dish plate and let it cool.

5. When cool – add spoonful of whipped cream in the centre then add a spoonful of durian on top of another and then bags it into square shape.

Done.

I always have a say in anything though sometimes I might become clueless too. My sister thought it could be something that make me so clueless but sometimes I just can't figure out anything. Maybe due to age factor I guess. I should beware that I m getting older now.

Long Banga - Miri

This is my village. My village is in a far away kingdom. Hard to be reach by road, and there is only 2 flight available on weekly basis. The groceries sold here is very expensive but their income is very little. Wonder why all the people here survive? Because they are hard working enough to do a lot of work to ensure they can give everything their kids wanted. They plant their own paddy. What they do for living is hunting, rear chicken, fishing. At least, their kids only wanted to eat and grow up. There is no necessity for an ipad or iphone anyway due to network error. Feeling truly sorry that our village is a very far away kingdom and cannot be reached by the Sarawak development project. Hoping that other village in Sarawak could have more facilities though mine is unreachable.

Our village will only be merrier during Christmas and New Year. Other than that period, it is very blank and heartless happening in this place. Due to the location, most of our people here moved to the city to make the living. But none of us ever forget our village. It is the first place that we all learn our first step and some make it as their place to learn ABC. Come, lets make a trip for Christmas this year!

Miri - Traffic Jam???

My home is approximately less than 15 minutes drive but during peak hours, it can get me about almost an hour to get to my office. Why oh why...Please tell me why...

Why I felt that I can't say all things out? Am I scared of the authority? Maybe :)

Sarawak Earth Hour

White House Down - movie addiction turn out to be the day of earth hour. I asked for the permission, but I still cannot go for the movies. I even return back home in the dark.

I am very sad because of this incident. Highly sad.

Thanks to Sarawak Energy for giving back the light to our area at 10pm on the same night. Thanks God for always reminding that "there will be light"

Iban Wedding

Iban tribe is the majority that stayed in Sarawak from many year ago. They are the one who namely found Sarawak and live peacefully here with many other minority groups. They are not only being known for being the biggest tribe in the state, but also known for the infamous "Bunga Terung" tattoo. Most of them are Christians while some are converted into other religion. As they are so much different from other races in Malaysia, so do their wedding day would not be the same like others. As you can see in the photo above, they are sitting in a so-called "pelamin" or namely a dais in front of the family members for the blessing. The thing that they are sitting on is called "gong" as a symbol of prosperity that they are holding when they join as a husband and wife. 

You may also notice that their traditional costume is so much different than other races in the world. You may refer to this photo for the full description of the lady costume. 

The wedding ceremony is definitely the biggest day for both partners and families. The groom’s family will throw a feast and the bridegroom’s family will help with the preparations. A wedding representative will be appointed to invite guests; this representative will take strands of rope with knot that are used to show the days left before the day of the wedding ceremony. If the rope has 7 knots, the marriage will be held within 7 days. The knots will then be opened every day.

As for house decoration, the groom will go to the bride’s house by a boat decorated with “Pua Kumbu”, which is an Iban traditional multicoloured woven material. Otherwise, he will walk on the road and “Gongs” will be hit along the way. Once he has arrived to the bride’s front door, cannon will be released and the couple will be taken to the river to have a bath together before wearing their traditional outfit. When the couple arrive to the longhouse, a pig will be slaughtered as a sign of honour and this is when you get to hear the sound of guns. Before entering the house, the head of groom will take the couple on a tour from the head of stairs until the end of the house. This is when the feast kicks in. Guests will be offered with wine and “Tuak”. Pork usually served in an Iban wedding. Otherwise, meats like beef, chicken and lamb will be served.

The wedding ceremony is also the time for both families to discuss about the future of the marriage, such as the fine and other matters related to the marriage.

Ayam Pansoh: its YUMMY!

Happens to eat ayam pansoh before? It is a traditional way of cooking the chicken. Instead of boiling it in our normal kitchen ware, we use the bamboo stick and put it on fire and this is where we get the ayam pansoh from.

"Tiga alek2 uman ini.." 

Below are the recipes. 

You will need:

a)1 Bamboo Stick

b) I  Whole Chicken (prefferably old chicken or ayam kampung)

c) A pinch of rock salt

d) 5 Stick of Lemon grass

e) 1 inch long Ginger

Add on rice liquor / wine (up to your liking)

Put all the ingredients and the cut chicken into the bamboo shoot. Light up the fire and put the bamboo stick aside the fire. Cover the bamboo stick with banana leaf to ensure that the chicken and all the ingredients mixed well together. 

Wait about half an hour (and to ensure that you flip the bamboo stick to all the sides) at evey 10 minutes to ensure that the chicken is well-cooked. 

When you notice that water is dripping from the bamboo shoot mouth, you may now ready a plate and Voiiilllaaa....it is now officially can be eaten.

It seems that it is so rare for you to meet Kenyah Girl. Some people, they thought of Kenya or something but Kenyah is one of the indigenous tribe that can only be found in Sarawak and East Kalimantan of Indonesia. 

We are speaking the Austronesian language of Borneo, living in the remote Baram (Lio Matoh, Long Selaan, Long Moh, Long Anap, Long Mekaba, Long Jeeh, Long Belaong, Long San, Long Silat, Long Tungan, etc. ), Data Kakus, Data Surau, Sg. Senep, Long Dungan, Long Busang, Long Beyak, Bintulu, Miri, Sungai ASAP resettlement for Bakun DAM, Long Bulan, Long Jawe and Belaga regions in Sarawak, Malaysia and the remote Apau Kayan, Bahau (Bau), Benua Lama & Baru and Mahakam regions in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. 

We, the Kenyah people are divided into various tribes including the Uma Bakah, Lepo Anan, Lepo Tau, Lepo Jalan, Lepo' Tepu, Uma Kelap, Badeng (Jamok, Lep Aga'), Bakung, lebu Kulit, Uma Alim, Uma Timai, Uma Lasan, Lepo Ma-ot, Sambop, Lepo Ke' (this is my place), Ngurek, Kiput, Long Ulai, Long Tikan, Long Sabatu, Lepo Ga, Lepo Dikan and Lepo Pua. 

We stay in the long house (uma dadok) and our ancestors work as a farmers for our living. Now things has change and most of the Kenyah people has moved to the city and their culture and economy has also changed. 

International Forgiveness Day

Dear all,

Please take note that we will be celebrating the Forgiveness Day on the 7th July 2013. It is a day that gave us a chance to set things right. Put aside all differences, move beyond grievances and hurts and start afresh.

There is already a Forgiveness Day in August, founded by the Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance, but the Forgiveness Day on 7th July was founded by CECA (Christian Embassy of Christ's Ambassadors), though really both days have essentially the same message; to forgive.
