It has been a blast year and I noticed that Candy Crush has changed a lot of people's life. It changed mine too but in a good way..:)

I love to see all of these candy. By not seeing them, it won't make my day anyway. Hope you guys enjoy urs too..Even Psy enjoy it too..huhu

Iban Wedding

Iban tribe is the majority that stayed in Sarawak from many year ago. They are the one who namely found Sarawak and live peacefully here with many other minority groups. They are not only being known for being the biggest tribe in the state, but also known for the infamous "Bunga Terung" tattoo. Most of them are Christians while some are converted into other religion. As they are so much different from other races in Malaysia, so do their wedding day would not be the same like others. As you can see in the photo above, they are sitting in a so-called "pelamin" or namely a dais in front of the family members for the blessing. The thing that they are sitting on is called "gong" as a symbol of prosperity that they are holding when they join as a husband and wife. 

You may also notice that their traditional costume is so much different than other races in the world. You may refer to this photo for the full description of the lady costume. 

The wedding ceremony is definitely the biggest day for both partners and families. The groom’s family will throw a feast and the bridegroom’s family will help with the preparations. A wedding representative will be appointed to invite guests; this representative will take strands of rope with knot that are used to show the days left before the day of the wedding ceremony. If the rope has 7 knots, the marriage will be held within 7 days. The knots will then be opened every day.

As for house decoration, the groom will go to the bride’s house by a boat decorated with “Pua Kumbu”, which is an Iban traditional multicoloured woven material. Otherwise, he will walk on the road and “Gongs” will be hit along the way. Once he has arrived to the bride’s front door, cannon will be released and the couple will be taken to the river to have a bath together before wearing their traditional outfit. When the couple arrive to the longhouse, a pig will be slaughtered as a sign of honour and this is when you get to hear the sound of guns. Before entering the house, the head of groom will take the couple on a tour from the head of stairs until the end of the house. This is when the feast kicks in. Guests will be offered with wine and “Tuak”. Pork usually served in an Iban wedding. Otherwise, meats like beef, chicken and lamb will be served.

The wedding ceremony is also the time for both families to discuss about the future of the marriage, such as the fine and other matters related to the marriage.

Ayam Pansoh: its YUMMY!

Happens to eat ayam pansoh before? It is a traditional way of cooking the chicken. Instead of boiling it in our normal kitchen ware, we use the bamboo stick and put it on fire and this is where we get the ayam pansoh from.

"Tiga alek2 uman ini.." 

Below are the recipes. 

You will need:

a)1 Bamboo Stick

b) I  Whole Chicken (prefferably old chicken or ayam kampung)

c) A pinch of rock salt

d) 5 Stick of Lemon grass

e) 1 inch long Ginger

Add on rice liquor / wine (up to your liking)

Put all the ingredients and the cut chicken into the bamboo shoot. Light up the fire and put the bamboo stick aside the fire. Cover the bamboo stick with banana leaf to ensure that the chicken and all the ingredients mixed well together. 

Wait about half an hour (and to ensure that you flip the bamboo stick to all the sides) at evey 10 minutes to ensure that the chicken is well-cooked. 

When you notice that water is dripping from the bamboo shoot mouth, you may now ready a plate and Voiiilllaaa....it is now officially can be eaten.

I am a Kenyah Girl

Hi there, 

It seems that it is so rare for you to meet Kenyah Girl. Some people, they thought of Kenya or something but Kenyah is one of the indigenous tribe that can only be found in Sarawak and East Kalimantan of Indonesia. 

We are speaking the Austronesian language of Borneo, living in the remote Baram (Lio Matoh, Long Selaan, Long Moh, Long Anap, Long Mekaba, Long Jeeh, Long Belaong, Long San, Long Silat, Long Tungan, etc. ), Data Kakus, Data Surau, Sg. Senep, Long Dungan, Long Busang, Long Beyak, Bintulu, Miri, Sungai ASAP resettlement for Bakun DAM, Long Bulan, Long Jawe and Belaga regions in Sarawak, Malaysia and the remote Apau Kayan, Bahau (Bau), Benua Lama & Baru and Mahakam regions in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. 

We, the Kenyah people are divided into various tribes including the Uma Bakah, Lepo Anan, Lepo Tau, Lepo Jalan, Lepo' Tepu, Uma Kelap, Badeng (Jamok, Lep Aga'), Bakung, lebu Kulit, Uma Alim, Uma Timai, Uma Lasan, Lepo Ma-ot, Sambop, Lepo Ke' (this is my place), Ngurek, Kiput, Long Ulai, Long Tikan, Long Sabatu, Lepo Ga, Lepo Dikan and Lepo Pua. 

We stay in the long house (uma dadok) and our ancestors work as a farmers for our living. Now things has change and most of the Kenyah people has moved to the city and their culture and economy has also changed. 

International Forgiveness Day

Dear all,

Please take note that we will be celebrating the Forgiveness Day on the 7th July 2013. It is a day that gave us a chance to set things right. Put aside all differences, move beyond grievances and hurts and start afresh.

There is already a Forgiveness Day in August, founded by the Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance, but the Forgiveness Day on 7th July was founded by CECA (Christian Embassy of Christ's Ambassadors), though really both days have essentially the same message; to forgive.
